Runtime environment

Software runtimes make universal basic functions available on peripheral devices, memories, networks, or other devices. These basic functions include reading and writing files, data transfer, I/O management, searching and sorting of files, and others. The Runtime Environment (RTE) is a comprehensive system with which runtime application programs can be run and executed in a different environment.

The Runtime Environment also ensures software modules can be re-used in different environments, and can take over functions that would otherwise have to be carried out with application programs.

For the control and automation sector, the user has runtimes for control, visualization, and remote maintenance with the KEB graduated range of functions.
